January's Family Fun

We have already been very busy this year having lots of fun. Here are a few things we have done:

Had a surprise birthday party for Bryan at the Countrymans. We found out that Cherie and Cory are expecting, and we got to visit with Pop, who has been having a hard time with diabetes.

We are ready for the 2012 Year!! We have many exciting things that are going to happen this year pertaining to Bryan finishing Dental school. We were soooo happy to have Grandma come for the week after Christmas and through New Years. We got to go to Chuck E. Cheese, have parties, sleepovers, go out to eat, and many more wonderful and fun things that go along with Grandma. We love you Grandma sooo much and are so grateful that you got to come see us this year.

We had such a wonderful Christmas with many blessings. This was our last Christmas being a student family and we were feeling it financially. Bryan and I were preparing the kids with the thought that Santa was just bringing a few things this year because there are so many others that needed it more then us in this world. The girls, especially Alysa being old enough,was content and happy with that thought, and because of this, we focused more on the true meaning of Christmas and not the busy shopping or commercialization of the sacred day. We then found more chances to serve others, the ability to visit "Bethlehem Revisited", carol to friends, share wonderful memories with family, and embrace more the joy of our Savior's birth. Just a few weeks before Christmas some family members gave us the ability to provide more Christmas gifts for our children. Heavenly Father does love little children and loves to see them smile and laugh, and we are so grateful for the sweet act of kindness these family members rendered unto us. Christmas day was so wonderful and meaningful as our children enjoyed such a beautiful day. We have gained a stronger testimony of how, "Wise men do still seek Him!"

Our Thanksgiving Adventure on the Sea

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving as we had the pleasure to have an extra special one this year! Meme and Pop gave 34 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the opportunity of a lifetime. We all went on an amazing journey across the sea for one week while visiting various countries on the Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. I know I attached a lot of pictures, but I use this as our family journal each year. This trip was amazing and words can't describe our awe-inspiring adventure of fun, love, and family.

Up early and driving to Zaza's to join them for the trip down to Galveston.

I am sad to say that the pictures of our treasure box that Meme and Pop gave us did not turn out, but I want to mention how fun they were. We loved looking through them and we enjoyed the treasures within.

There were 38 family members on-board waving goodbye to Galveston as we started our adventure on the deep blue sea for 8 days 7 nights to Honduras, Belize, and Mexico.

Zaza and Papa got to go with us to Honduras as we explored. Behind us is a replica of some ancient Mayan ruins.

We are in true paradise.

This was the reef we snorkeled at in Maya Cay, Honduras. If you look far enough you can see that it drops off to 130 feet. We are probably at 8-10 feet now.

One of the most special moments of the trip was seeing Angelina get baptized in the beautiful ocean. What a great experience for all of us! We are so proud of her and the great example that she is for all of us.

Just had to show you one of our dinners. It was 5 stars every night!! We even got to try some interesting dishes including Escargot and Goose Pâté.

We truly had the best time of our lives and we are ever so grateful for Meme and Pop being so unselfish and providing this opportunity for 36 of us. That, in and of itself, was the greatest treasure! Like the shirt says..."Families are Forever". Thank you and we love you Meme and Pop!

Happy Halloween

Hope you all had a great Halloween as we embraced the Fall. This summer was horrible with record breaking triple digit heat for 70 days straight, so the hint of Fall in the air was truly inviting. Halloween was fun and this year we chose the theme "The Incredibles." We got to go to Alysa's school Fall Festival and our church chili cook-off/trunk-or-treat. One of Alysa's friends from her old school got to come and we enjoyed their company. Hope you all had a great Halloween too.

San Antonio

Our family was blessed to receive Six Flags season passes for Christmas, so we put them to good use and took a fun trip to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. Denise (Bryan's mom) and Angelina (cousin) got to go with us and we had a really fun time. We got to visit the Alamo, the River Walk, and even the San Antonio Temple.

Fisher Family Reunion

This summer we had our Fisher Family Reunion here in Dallas and each sibling that currently lives in Dallas, (ie. Marc, Cassandra, and ourselves) hosted one family coming from out of town while Grandma and Grandpa house hopped. We had a week of family fun activities that included: a lake day with jet-skis, volleyball tournament, treasure hunt, Children's hospital service project, Cuban dinner, awards, swimming at Cimarron Park, Jump Zone, talent show, birthday parties, late games nights, baptism for Christian, an awesome Ranger game, laughing, loving, and so much more. Our family hosted the Mayberry family, which is Vanessa's family. It was really fun and memories were made that will never be forgotten. She got to stay a total of 3 weeks with us. We really enjoyed having them stay with us. Brynn, Alysa, and Cayden got to play and get to know their cousins Brooklyn and Josh so much better. We got to do a few extra things like Chuck E. Cheese, the zoo, and other things while they stayed a little longer. We can't wait till our next family reunion!!

Brynn is all princess so, that is why we had a Rapunzel birthday party. She came up with the idea and it was really fun to see Brynn's smiling face when all her cousins came to her party. She is very much loved. We love you Brynn and count our blessings everyday that you are a part of our family.

Arkansas or Bust

When Bryan finished his 3rd year of dental school, he was assigned to a preceptorship with a Dentist in Shirley, Arkansas --which is located in the Ozark Mountains. We were excited to hear that Bryan's school would pay for his housing, gas, and some food. They even told him that his family could join him, so we did and made it a family vacation. We got to stay in a older but still well kept condo resort area. Because it was still May, we had the place to ourselves practically. They had an Olympic size pool with an awesome view of the Ozarks, tennis court, unlimited movies rentals, golf course, and much more. When Bryan would get off of work we would go site see and have fun...and we sure did, LOTS of FUN!

Catching Up With Life

There were many things that happened near the end of Alysa's Kindergarten year that I never got to blog about. Here is a list of the things we did: Dallas Arboretum field trip in early May, Alligator farm field trip May 11th, Field Day May 12th, Ranger Game May 13th, Museum of Nature and Science May 16th, June 1st Graduation for Kindergarten, and last day of school celebration at the beginning of June. This is just a start of catching up with blogging. I got to get ready for 1st grade and Bryan's last year of Dental school. Yeah!! Hope all is well for you all!

Alysa was off school a few Monday ago so we decided to meet daddy for lunch and visit the children's museum in Dallas. They had a new exhibit with dinosaurs and Brynn was not to fond of them. They are "to loud," as she said, while covering her ears. Cayden just sat there in awe and stared at them--typical boy.

Camping Trip

Our family went camping a few weekends ago in East Texas at Bob Sandlin State Park, which is close to the Lake O' Pines. If you have never been, you got to see the beautiful country out there. It was still cold at night so we got a screen shelter with a heater for Cayden. We roasted hot-dogs, ate smores, told funny stories, and enjoyed the outdoors that night. Saturday morning we packed up and went exploring, had lunch, and then hiked to a small trout pond for fishing--we caught many small sunfish. Lots of fun memories were made! Aunt Whitney and Uncle Shane got to go with us and took these great pictures.

We had one of the snowiest and iciest winters that I have every seen. In February we missed 5 days of school! Yes you heard it right, 5 days (4 of which were consecutive) and Bryan got off 4 of those days. It started off really fun but then it dragged on, and on, and on. They even started shutting off power in some neighborhoods for and hour or so at a time to be careful not to overload the main electrical plant. Thank goodness for food storage, a fireplace, lots of hot chocolate, and a great family to hang out with. We made it and can say that it was really fun.

The BIG 30!!

Happy 30th Birthday Bryan!! We truly rejoice for such a special day in which you were born. We love you so much and truly picked your birthday theme as Superman for a reason. You truly are our superman...you work so hard for us at school and at home, you always come home happy and ready to help around the house with the kids and chores, you shows us compassion and love especially when we need it the most, you are the best father that we could ever have hoped for, you are humble in not letting everyone know the everyday good deeds you do for others, you treat mommy like a queen ( she always thinks, "Every girl deserves a man like mine"), and most of all you love our Father in Heaven- and it shows by your love for us. Thank you for being our daddy, husband, and best friend. We will always love you!

Tummy Wars

Alysa and I started first with just a small "tummy war" (pillow tucked in our shirts while trying to knock each other over) and then it turned into this...yes our family was at war! Bryan and I use to do this as kids and thought we would show our own kids how fun it is to bounce off each other's bellies. Please tell me you have done this?!?!

Catching up on our blogging...sorry. I am just going to post lots of pictures (you don't have to look at them all- there are lots of them) to show August through December. We had visits from Grandma and Grandpa Fisher, baptism for Chanelle, wedding of Katie, playing for a city softball team, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the birth of our sweet baby boy-Cayden. We have been very busy, but I know that is no excuse. Hope you enjoy the pictures; they are in no particular order.

Great Wolf Lodge

After Alysa finished her first week of school, we surprised her and Brynn and went to vacation in Grapevine, Texas at the Great Wolf Lodge. Shane and Meme work there at a restaurant and were able to get a room discount. This hotel is just packed with fun: indoor/outdoor water park, arcade, wand game, really fun shops, good restaurants, puppet show, and so much more. We stayed one night and had a blast! Thank you Meme and Shane for helping us have such a fun getaway.

Alysa has grown up so fast-I am sure everyone thinks the same of their own. She started Kindergarten at Rowlett Elementary School with Mrs. Foster and is already making friends. She even has been asked for her hand in marriage twice, by the end of her first week. She told them that she can't get married because boys have "cooties". I was so proud of her! Bryan and I got to go and eat lunch with her on the first day of school. She is just loving it so much, and that makes it easier for me as a mom to let her go. I miss my little princess at home, and so does her little sister Brynn.

Butterfly Fly Away

Alysa received a butterfly raising kit for her birthday from her Aunt "Kiki". We ordered caterpillars and received 3 in the mail. We watched them over the next week and they made their chrysalis within minutes. It was so neat to watch the rapid transformation. A week later they hatched from their homes while Alysa was at school and turned into beautiful butterflies. We set them free and watched in awe of such beauty.

The Mayberrys got to come and stay with us for a few days, and we really enjoyed seeing them. Brooklyn and Josh were just soooo cute and such a joy to see, not that Vanessa and Matt weren't any fun. We still have a little bit of hard feelings about loosing the game of Settlers to Matt- Michelle was going to win on the next round. We love you guys and our home is always open for visits. Alysa's Birthday

We celebrated Alysa's 5th birthday by doing whatever she wanted to do, so we went swimming, went to Chuck E. Cheese, had her favorite meals all day, had cousins over to spend the night, and watched Scooby-Doo. We then celebrated her birthday with an "I-SPY" party a week later with all her Texas cousins and even Brooklyn from South Carolina. We also invited some of her primary friends and Anna (our neighbor). It was lots of fun, and she felt soooo special and loved.

Hot Springs Vacation

Bryan had four weeks off for the summer, so we took a quick family vacation to Hot Springs, AR. It was a real treat to get away and enjoy nature. We stayed for three days and hiked, dug for crystals, visited a petting zoo/alligator farm, swam, played, and visited a few tourist spots. We made lots of lasting memories.

Brynn had a battle with a mosquito and it resulted in her eye almost swelling shut.

Alysa loves to be funny...she wanted the illusion that she was falling.

Though we truly were"falling" in love with Arkansas.

We got to go for a family hike through a national forest.

The girls loved the trees and how tall they were...

.... Brynn would even give hugs to the trees.

This is one of the few natural hot springs left open for the public to view. It was so hot, 143*!

We got to visit an orchard that was about 15 minutes from our house. We hand picked blackberries and then picked out a few fresh fruits from their store that were grown right there in the orchard. Afterwards we enjoyed their homemade peach ice cream. It was really fun!

Boy or Girl???

We finally found out what we are having and it is...drum roll please....a BOY!!!! Can you believe it (we couldn't)? Back on Mother's day Shannon bought us a gender test (it is a new thing out that has been on many talk shows and even the news), so we took it and it read a girl. Bryan and I were already thinking it was a girl to begin with too, so finding out that it is a boy was a huge surprise. I just starting crying and Bryan was just in shock. Our little baby looked so handsome! Thanks for all the calls and thoughts. Love you all!

We ordered this cake, in the morning, prior to the ultrasound. When we got it I hid a little plastic baby in the blue/boy side, and then I handed it back to the baker to fix the hole I just made. When she brought it out, it had a big blue spot in place of the hole. I didn't want to be rude, so I just took it home and smudged it everywhere to make it not obvious of where the baby was.

AirHogs Game

Katie's fiance, Greg Krause, got our whole family tickets to come watch an AirHogs semi-pro baseball game. We even got a nice suite for our whole family to enjoy. Greg did really well, and for those that do not know...he pitches for the team. They ended up winning 11-1, and the mascot won Brynn's heart. She called him "pig, pig." She got to kiss him on the nose and after that it was history. She even woke up the next morning, talking about the "pig, pig" kiss. Bryan, Cory, and Jonathan surprised us all and ran the taquito race dressed up in the most hilarious costumes. Bryan was the chef, Cory was the taquito, and Jonathan was the hot dog. I am so glad that they know how to have fun, because we laughed sooo hard! You have to watch the video to see who won the race.

Brynn's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Brynn's 2nd birthday fairy style. We had an elegant lemonade "tea party" within a little nook. We made butterflies, found pixie dust, and had lots of fun. Brynn just enjoyed every minute of it...but the cutest was her reaction in the morning. Bryan and I stayed up late and put up all the tulle and flowers for decoration and also made the cake the night before while she was asleep. When she awoke that morning and we showed her the room and cake...she just opened her mouth in awe and was said "WOW" and "Happy OOAH" which means in Brynn's native tongue "Happy Birthday". She was so cute and just couldn't stop looking at the cake and the room (which made mom and dad so happy) ALL morning until the party and she literally said "Happy OOAH" 30 times. It was so great to see how much she enjoyed it all, as you can see in the pictures. We love you Brynn!! Thanks to all that came, and thanks to all that couldn't come but were thinking of her.

Miami Trip

Bryan had to study for part one of the national dental boards so we decided to take the girls to Miami to visit Grandma, Grandpa, Abuela, and Abuelo while he stayed home to study. It was really hard to be away from Bryan/Daddy for 6 days, but we thought it would be best for us all. The girls got to visit with their grandparents and great-grandparents which was very special and hard to put into words of how much fun and how special this trip was. It was so priceless to watch Alysa and Brynn meet their great-grandparents for one of the first times, and maybe the last due to our financial situation and their health. It was also priceless to watch grandma and grandpa be in heaven with the two little angels. Since this is so hard to put into words I attached some pictures and one video....

This is the apartment that Alysa, Brynn, and I stayed in. It was perfect for us, and this was right before we left...it looks so empty. When we got there, Grandma and Grandpa had it all decked out with lots of fun and pretty things. They sure know how to spoil.

On the way home, tired and worn out from the fun. Brynn did pretty good most of the time on the plane, but this is what she was doing the other times.

We got these shirts to wear home for daddy...it says "My dad is king of the castle." We were very sad to leave Miami but happy to go home to daddy.

Alysa is growing up so fast...she had her preschool graduation last weekend, so she is officially ready for kindergarten. It was the cutest program, as you can see from the pictures!!! I felt like she was graduating from high school. I attached some pictures and I will post some of her videos soon.

Baby Bird Watching

A little wren built a nest in one of our hanging flower baskets in the backyard. She laid eggs in it and now since we have showed Alysa it has become a daily "bird watch." The eggs have hatched since and now there are four cute featherless babies tweeting away. The girls have really enjoyed watching nature at it's best.

This year Chloe (Alysa’s cousin) celebrated her 9th birthday party at the skating rink in down town Dallas. Bryan couldn't come because of some school work he had to do, so I took the girls by myself. I couldn’t get on the ice because I was afraid of falling and hurting the baby, so Alysa went out skating on her own. She did really well, considering it was just the second time she has gone. It was pretty funny though, she complained at the end of the night how much her bum hurt from falling so much. What a trooper!!

Family Bluebonnet Pictures

Every year it is a tradition to get family pictures in the bluebonnets, because it shows our Texas pride and love. I also think it might lure family members that have moved away from this beloved state to return back “home”. This was Brynn’s first time to really see the bluebonnets and to touch them. Well, she did more than touch them; she smelled them, ran through them, and laid in them. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and even though the bluebonnets did not bloom much this year, the pictures turned out cute. If you look closely (well not that close, it is pretty obvious) you can see our baby bump that will be here near the end of this year.

Easter Blessings

This Easter has been very memorable. Alysa had a fun Easter party at her school where they had an Easter egg hunt and even a piñata. We then celebrated Easter at home: had the girls open their Easter baskets, watched General Conference, and had lots of family over for an egg hunt and dinner. During the egg hunt a special egg was found by Chloe (Alysa’s cousin) and we had her read it out loud. This is what it said:

“Easter is a time to remember what Christ did for us…he gave us life. The egg you see during Easter time represents new life as Christ rose from the grave overcoming death. May we always remember this greatest act of love that gave us eternal life with our Heavenly Father.
This Easter season is particularly special to us. Not only are we celebrating the great miracle of eternal life offered to us through the resurrection…our family is happy and most thankful to announce that we are expecting new life to arrive December 3rd. After a long 6 months since the lost of our last pregnancy we have been blessed once again. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers."

We hope you all had as memorable of an Easter as us. The video at the bottom shows Chloe reading it out loud so you can see the reaction of the family. We love you all and miss you!

Prima Ballerina

Preforming everyday...the Prima Ballerina Brynn!!! She loves to dress up now and be "prit-tee" as she would say. I am going to start looking into buying a bat, a BIG ONE to keep those boys away!

Alysa and Brynn are going to be flower girls for Katie's (Bryan's little sister) wedding in September. We went to watch Katie try on her wedding dress (which she looked amazing) and the girls decided to try on different dresses and accessories for fun.
